At UniKidz Steiger, we can accommodate children with a developmental language disorder and deaf and hearing-impaired children.

Within the group, we take account of your child's needs and possibilities and adjust our activities accordingly, assisted by the advice of Koninklijke Kentalis, the national organization for people with a developmental language disorder and deaf and hearing-impaired people, and the NSDSK foundation (Nederlandse Stichting voor het Dove en Slechthorende Kind) for deaf and hearing-impaired children.

The childcare provided is complementary to the early treatment by NSDSK or Kentalis, prior to or in addition to education. The group of deaf and hearing-impaired children and the group for children with a developmental language disorder are taken care of on different days.

The team of professionals consists of permanent educational staff with experience in deafness, hearing impairment, and developmental language disorder education. They have different educational backgrounds at both the level of secondary vocational education and higher professional education and many years of work experience. They have also been trained by Koninklijke Kentalis and NSDSK. Together they guarantee a warm and safe environment and offer a good balance of active and relaxing indoor and outdoor activities that challenge children to develop themselves.

Our staff are continuously trained in the educational working method of Kentalis. They recognize the stages of development that each child goes through at their own pace, and they support the development of essential skills with targeted actions. They also have plenty of attention for ensuring a sense of emotional security. Our staff acknowledge and name what the children are feeling and give them the space they need to be themselves.
