FitKidz is built on a structured and evidence-informed approach to movement that supports children’s development at every stage of childhood. Rather than focusing on early specialisation or performance, our method prioritises versatile movement, enjoyment, and long-term engagement in an active lifestyle.
A Broad Foundation Through Movement
At the heart of the FitKidz method lies the belief that children benefit most from experiencing many different forms of movement. Using the Wheel of 10 (Schijf van 10), children develop a broad motor foundation by exploring ten fundamental movement forms such as running, jumping, balancing, throwing, and fighting forms.
This approach helps children to:
- move with confidence and control,
- adapt easily to new sports and activities,
- reduce the risk of overuse injuries and early drop-out,
- build a positive relationship with physical activity.
Fun, Variety and Motivation
To keep children engaged and motivated, FitKidz works with rotating programmes. Every ten weeks, a new activity programme is introduced, offering fresh challenges and experiences. This variety prevents monotony and encourages children to remain curious, active, and enthusiastic.
Enjoyment is always the starting point, because children who have fun while moving are more likely to stay active throughout their lives.
